Finshing Up

Hey allll!!

Its been crazy busy! There is less than a week of classes left! WOW! This semester has definitely flown by. So this past week was so busy, but fun! Rockin for Robbie was a great success! The bands were really great, and the crowd definitely enjoyed them. Tri Sigma was able to raise about $200 for Robbie Page Memorial. We are hoping to make another $500 come Fall.

The rest of Greek week was pretty fun as well, the awards banquet was very nice as well. It is so great to see all of Greek life working together and appreciating what accomplishments we have had this past year. In addition, this past Saturday, Greek life particpated in a 5k Breast Cancer walk. It was amazing weather!

On Sunday, April 26, Tri Sigma celebrated Founder's Day at the Holiday Inn. It was a beautiful luncheon where all of our parents came up. We sing our national song and celebrate each sister.
This Saturday, we wil lbe participating in Into the Streets, relocating to a specific location somehwere within Oneonta to do community service.

Good luck with all finals! Enjoy the last weeeeek!!

Lets go Greeks!

Hello hello hello,

This week is so busy! It's hard to even find time to write a post! Of course, finals week is steadily approaching. This whole week is Greek Week, in which all of recognized Greek Life plays in multiple physical activities and score points and awards.

So far, Greeks have played in pool, dodgeball and kickball events. It has been quite fun and eventful!! Coming up is the Awards Banquet and Taking Back the Night. For Taking Back the Night, we will walk around Oneonta and be informed about sexual violence. It is a great way to get involved and informed about the community surrounding us.

Tomorrow is Tri Sigma's upcoming event, Rockin for Robbie! It consists of mulitple bands playing, and all proceeds go to Robbie Page Memorial Hospital. Should be great!

Keep working hard!

Welcome Backkk!

I hope everyone had an amazing break! The weather was kind of terrible, rainy and all, but oh well. I worked everyday, so my break was completely uneventful. But that's okay, because Tri Sigma has plenty of events coming up these next few weeks! We're going strong til the last weekend of school!

This Saturday, we are planning to have a letter writing party. It is often called, "Logs for Lincoln." For every address one brings to this event, a penny is donated to our philanthropy, Robbie Page Memorial. We are really trying our hardest to raise as much money as possible. We are also having a Sigma Retreat this weekend. We all feel it is important to maintain our sisterhood, and continue to get to knwo each other even better. We also like to constantly discuss any problems or conflicts going on. It is so beneficial, because we end up finishing the retreats feeling content and relief. This weather is definitely giving me spring fever, I cannot stand to be inside! I just had my first intramural softball game yesterday. Let's just say, we did not do too well:( I hope you are all taking advantage of the awesome weather!

Spring is here!

Hello all,

What a beautiful weekend it was!! Sitting out in the sun all day yesterday watching the softball game was so refreshing. Fortunately, I even ended up getting a slight tan! It was great to see the softball team win their game against Geneseo!

In addition, the Accepted Students Open House went very smoothly. So many students from both Greek life and campus volunteered to work it. It was so awesome to meet people that are very interested in coming to school here. Hopefully, they will choose Oneonta, because it is such a diverse and welcoming campus.

The Mu Sigma Upsilon stepshow was crazy! I have never seen a stepshow before, and it was unbelieveable! How they can do that is beyond me!

Well, I hope that everyone is enjoying this beautiful weather! Get through this last week, and have an awesome break! That's all for now...

Lots to Do!

Helllo there,

So since my last post, Tri Sigma has began to fill our schedule for the upcoming week ahead!..

This week, the members of Tri Sigma are going to make a strong effort to attend all of the programs that other Greek Organizations are holding this week. It is important that we support and acknowledge all the other ogranizations, because they work so hard. We are all in this entanglement of Greek life together, and we should support each other. There will be interesting programs, such as, an MSU Stepshow on Saturday, an Interracial Dating program by MSU on Wednesday, and a movie being shown on Thursday.

In addition, this Saturday is Open House from 8-1! Try to come by and stop at our table, we'll be sure to make it worthwhile! Later that day is an Oneonta Baseball game. We are putting on a marvelous halftime show and it would mean so much if everyone would come and support the baseball boys to victory! Come cheer them on with us from the stands!!

This Sunday, we will begin hosting a fundraising event. Every Tri Sigma member will be supplied with an AVON booklet to order makeup, jewelry, accessories. It would be amazing to fundraise a lot of money to not only support our chapter, but promote working together.

Well, have a good week! Breaks almost here!!

Fight Back!

Heyy guys,

So this weekend was pretty fun I must say. On Friday, it was Relay for Life. So many organizations come together to walk from 7PM-7AM to support and donate money to cancer foundations. It was awesome to see how many people came and supported the cause. Altogether, we raised about $62,000 for cancer reasearch and patients! It was participating in community service at its finest! While burning calories, we were all raising money for cancer! Yay! The members of Tri Sigma really enjoyed participating in Relay for Life, because we were able to spend quality time with each other, playing board games, eating a lot of food, walking together. It was an awesome time all around.

On Saturday, IGC hosted a Safe Spring Break Dance Party. Instead of going out on an ordinary Saturday night, they had a dry dance party to promote awareness about alcohol abuse. There was a DJ and lots of great music! One of the most interesting and creative ideas, was giving each participant a wristband. When a participant wanted a drink, they were checked off a spot on the wristband, so you could keep track of your drink intake. Without realizing how many you are actually intaking, drinking ten cups of water or iced tea goes quickly. Therefore, it was an example of how you could easily have ten alcoholic beverages within a matter of an hour, without realizing how much you actually drank.

Well, I hope everyone has a safe and fun St. Patrick's Day!

Keepin' It Reaaaaal

Hellooo,

This past week was quite eventful. Our National Leadership Consultant came for a week visit. Her main goal was to help our chapter find some new ways to recruit girls and become closer as a sisterhood. We held events such as Sigma Jeopardy, a Fashion Show of Proper Badge Attire and a delicious Potluck! This past week has taught my whole chapter, including myself, how important friendship is. There are so many factors that contribute to maintaining a friendship. It takes hard work, honesty, loyalty and compassion. I can honestly say that being part of this everlasting and constantly growing friendships with all my sisters has changed my life. We are always there for each other. In order to sustain friendships and organizations, one must be open-minded and communicate well. Keep that in mind!

In addition, I attended a Chi Upsilon Sigma program discussing injustices women around the world still face. It was a well-developed PowerPoint presentation that brought up a variety of important points. There was a lot of discussion, and it taught me to be proud of being a woman.

Coming up, Tri Sigma will be participating in the Relay For Life, this Friday, March 13th. We will be walking for 12 hours to help raise money for cancer patients. It should be a fun time! Also, IGC is holding a program concerning Spring Break alocohol abuse this Saturday.

That's all for now.

It's March Already?!

Heeeyy there everyone,

I cannot believe it is already March. That means the semester is halfway through! Wow! Coming back from our mid-winter break, there is a lot to accomplish for the sisters of Tri Sigma.

This week, we are hosting a Sigma Jeopardy night for all of our members just to keep up with our facts. Meet the Greeks will also be this week! It is an excellent way to meet more people from campus, and explore all optionsa available to students. So, if you have any interest in getting to know Greek Life, definitely stop by! It is this Saturday from 12-2 in Hunt Ballroom. Inter-Greek Council spends a lot of time setting up Meet the Greeks to make it extra informational and interesting for students. All organizations will have a specific table with detailed information of what their organization stands for. Should be an awesome time!

I know mid-terms are approaching, and the semester is most likely getting very stressful(especially for me), so, from experience, try to keep up with your studies and work load. It will benefit you in the longrun. Try to manage your time wisely, because procrastination is definitely a downfall. Utilize the library as well, there are so many places to sit quietly and focus on work.

Well, good luck!

Happy Valentine's Day!

Heyyy, sorry I'm titling this post Valentine's Day, even though it's two days later, but I figured it would be appropriate. This past week, Tri Sigma had a sisterhood event and created Valentine's Day cards for the children of our philanthropy, Robbie Page Memorial. Of course, I absolutely loved it, because drawing is my favorite hobby, but it was also nice to know that these cards would put a smile on these children. Not only did we create Valentine's Day cards for sick children, but we created cards for every sister. We decided it would be a nice way to show each other how much we care and love each and every member of Tri Sigma. We should have made one for every organization!

In addition, we all went to the Senior Night Basketball game on Friday to cheer on two of our sisters that are part of the OSC Kickline team! Their routine is amazing, and it was great to show support!

I know I am definitely looking forward to this break, it has been a long stretch since January. One of our newest idea event has been Rockin' 4 Robbie. There are so many events coming up after this break, I can't wait to post all about them! Keep a heads up for them!

What's Real Goooood?!

Hey! So, this weekend, the members of Tri Sigma participated in the Heart Disease Walk here on campus in the Field House. It was great to participate in an event that actually would help people. Sundays are normally the best day of the week to get all work done, because you can relax as well, but the Inter-Greek Council is hosting Study Hours in Hunt Waterfront area tomorrow night, Monday from 6-9! Check it out if you can! I'm sure it will help to study with others, especially in Hunt. It is so important to maintain scholastic achievement at school, because time management can be a real obstacle. So, all the Greek Organizations definitely support high academics by offering study hours. Good luck with school!

An Introduction!

Welcome to the Tri Sigma of Oneonta Blog site! When considering creating a blog for our chapter, I was so excited! Our chapter is very ecstatic about setting up a blog, because now we can relay all of the exciting events we hold to everyone else through the internet.
When coming to SUNY Oneonta, I was completely against joining a sorority, due to all the negative stereotypes, but then I found Tri Sigma. First, Tri Sigma is one of the recognized sorority organizations on the campus of SUNY Oneonta. As of now, we have 34 amazing members, and we are continuing to grow. Tri Sigma's values are heavily based on sisterhood, friendship and achievement. We strive to be strong, developed and loyal women. SUNY Oneonta is the perfect place for the members of Tri Sigma, because there is such a diverse student body, with so many opportunities to get involved. Tri Sigma constantly enforces and appreciates high academic achievement. Tri Sigma has a policy that members must maintain a 2.5 GPA, which gives our chapter an overall cumulative 3.04 GPA. In addition, the members of Tri Sigma are always planning community service events, such as, cleaning up a local park, or participating in Cancer walks. Our national philanthropy is the Robbie Page Memorial. We donate money to help children of the Robbie Page foundation.
Not only, have I definitely found a place on campus where I belong and feel comfortable, but Tri Sigma has become one of the most important and defining aspects of my life here at college. Joining Tri Sigma has allowed me to discover who I am as an individual and expand my horizons to so many opportunities. I now hold an executive board position, as Education Director and it has been one of the best decisions. Every sister in the sorority displays the values that Tri Sigma enforces. The sisters are so caring, and supportive. I have made incredible friendships that I know will last a lifetime.
Well, I will keep you updated with upcoming events and anything else that goes on with our chapter weekly!
